I am a solo artist working from my studio in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. Every sculpture is designed, felted, and finished by hand. There’s no team and no production line, which is part of what makes each piece unique.

Needle-felting is a traditional craft where loose wool fibres are worked over and over with a fine, barbed needle until they bind together into a solid, sculpted shape. It’s slow, quiet work, and it’s what allows for the level of detail you see in the fur, expressions, and posture of each piece.

It depends on the size and how complex the animal is. Dogs for example take approximately 70 hours to complete whereas larger sculptures such as horses and Reindeer take several weeks.

I use the finest quality Merino and Alpaca wool fleece built up over a wire armature for structure. Small features such as eyes, noses and mouths are hand crafted by me and a blend of wool and wax for hooves and paw pads brings the piece to life.

No, these are fine art sculptures not toys. They contain small parts and wire, and the surface is delicate, so they’re best displayed somewhere safe and out of reach of young children and pets.

My books open 3 times a year. 1st February, 1st June and 1st November at 8pm BST. When a window opens, get in touch by email or Instagram DM at the announced time, letting me know your location and the animal you’d like sculpted. Spaces fill very quickly, so it’s a good idea to message me beforehand for an approximate cost.

Each sculpture takes many hours to create, so I only take on a handful at once. This allows me to give every piece the care and attention it deserves and it keeps waiting times fair.

Yes, multi pet and grouped pieces are possible. They take longer to make and the cost reflects the extra work, so please mention it when you first get in touch and we can plan from there.

Absolutely. I’ve made all sorts over the years, including rabbits, horses, birds, small mammals, and various wildlife. If you’re not sure whether your animal would work, just ask.

Yes, that’s how nearly all commissions work. Good photographs are the key to capturing both likeness and character, which is why I usually ask for several from different angles.

Ideally a small selection of clear, well lit photos taken in natural daylight, including: a front on view of the face; both side profiles; a full body shot from above or the side; close ups of distinctive markings, eyes, and any unusual fur patterns. The more reference I have to work from, the more accurate and characterful the finished piece will be.

In most cases, yes. Memorial commissions often work from limited reference and I’ll always do my best with what’s available. After our first chat I’ll let you know honestly whether the photos you have are workable or whether it would help to track down a few more.

Yes, short videos are really helpful for picking up on posture, expression, and the way an animal carries itself.

Yes. A big part of my work is creating quiet, lasting tributes to animals who are no longer here. These pieces are always approached with care and sensitivity.

Yes, a small amount of your pet’s fur can be gently blended the felting wool which makes the piece a really personal keepsake. Just mention it when you commission and we can arrange for it to be sent safely.

Yes, this is something I can do on request. The ashes are incorporated discreetly and respectfully into the structure of the sculpture. We can talk through the details privately when you commission.

There’s no right or wrong time. Some people find comfort in starting straight away, others prefer to wait. I’ll always work at a pace that feels right for you.

Yes, sculptures can be shipped worldwide except to EU countries and those associated with the EEA agreement. International shipping is quoted individually based on the destination, the size of the piece, and the tracked or insured options available.

Every piece is carefully packed in protective materials and a sturdy box. All parcels are sent fully insured with the courier company.

All shipments are tracked and insured. In the unlikely event of damage, please be in touch straight away with some photos and we can discuss the courier’s claims process together.

Display cases are available online but they are not a necessity. Ensure the sculpture is displayed away from direct sunlight, damp, and the reach of pets or curious hands. A gentle blow with your mouth or hairdryer every so often is really all it needs.

With sensible display, out of direct sunlight and in a dry room, the wool keeps its colour beautifully for years. If you live somewhere where clothes moths are a known issue, a discreet natural deterrent nearby like cedar or lavender is a sensible precaution.

The sculptures are sturdy but wool does not respond well to handling. These pieces are for display purposes only.

Yes, every sculpture is genuinely one of a kind. Even when I’m working from similar references, no two pieces are the same.

Past pieces can be a starting point for inspiration, but I don’t make replicas. Each new commission is created fresh as its own individual piece.

Occasionally, yes. Original wildlife studies and other available pieces are released from time to time outside of the commission process. These are usually announced on Instagram and the website.

I will be in touch with you to inform you that the process of your sculpture is beginning. That way you can follow progress on Instagram. Photos can also be sent to you if you do not use social media. Photos of the completed piece will also be sent to you so that you can check details. My sculptures are my artistic interpretation of your chosen animal, not a replica but I always strive to get the closest likeness.
